LGBT Pattaya

Thailand has been a comfortable LGBT travel destination for decades, and Pattaya — alongside Bangkok and Phuket — is one of the most welcoming cities in Asia. Same-sex marriage became legal in Thailand in 2025. Here's the honest guide.

Where to base yourself

Jomtien Complex (Boyztown South)

The heart of LGBT Pattaya. Dozens of gay bars, restaurants, cabaret venues and hotels in a walkable strip on Soi 13/4 in Jomtien. Most LGBT-focused hotels are within 5 minutes' walk. Highly recommended for first-time visitors.

Boyztown (off Walking Street)

The original gay neighborhood, smaller scale than Jomtien Complex but the legacy nightlife venues. More compact, slightly more bar-focused than Jomtien.

Beach

Dongtan Beach (between Pattaya and Jomtien) is Pattaya's traditional gay beach. Daybed rentals, beach bars, mixed friendly crowd. Always busy, especially weekends.
