Three days of free concerts, a 850-drone light show, a 10-minute midnight fireworks display, and absolute chaos in the best way. Here's how to do it right.
Held on Pattaya Beach, December 29–31. Free entry. Major Thai artists across multiple stages. The midnight fireworks alone draw 100,000+ people to Beach Road.
| Spot | Worth it? |
|---|---|
| Pattaya Beach Road (free) | The atmosphere, but expect to be 100m back. Arrive by 21:00. |
| Hilton Horizon Rooftop (book) | 34th floor, full bay view of fireworks, overlooks the beach show. Book weeks ahead. |
| Hard Rock Hotel pool deck | Free for hotel guests, paid event for non-guests. Decent view. |
| Bali Hai Pier | Side-on view of fireworks. Less crowded. |
| Walking Street | Misses the fireworks but hosts huge street parties. |
Rooftop bars and beach-view hotels sell out NYE packages by mid-November. Some open booking in October. Strategy:
Beach Road and Walking Street close to traffic from late afternoon Dec 31. Songthaews can't access. Plan: walk in, walk out. Stay within 15 minutes' walk of where you want to be.
It's December — Pattaya temps drop to 22°C overnight. A light jacket is comfortable. The crowd dresses up at rooftop bars (smart casual), beach is very casual.
All confirmed Pattaya New Year events are in our calendar:
The Pattaya Countdown is held on Pattaya Beach December 29–31, with the main fireworks at midnight on December 31.
Yes — the beach event with concerts and fireworks is completely free. Rooftop bars and nicer venues require booking, often weeks ahead.
